PRP, PRF
& Bio Filler
Regenerative Aesthetic Treatments Using Your Own Blood — Boise & Meridian
Restore. Rejuvenate. Refresh — with treatments created from you.
PRP, PRF, and Bio Filler use components derived from a small sample of your own blood to create personalized regenerative aesthetic treatments for skin quality, facial rejuvenation, and subtle volume improvement.
Understanding the Treatments
What Are PRP, PRF & Bio Filler?
All three begin with a sample of your own blood. How that blood is processed — and what the resulting material is used for — determines which treatment is right for your goals.
Platelet-Rich Plasma
Produced by processing your blood to create plasma with a concentrated level of platelets. PRP has been used in regenerative medicine for years and can be incorporated into aesthetic treatments designed to support healthier-looking skin and natural rejuvenation.
Platelet-Rich Fibrin
Derived from your blood, PRF contains platelets within a fibrin matrix. It can be used in regenerative aesthetic applications where gradual release of platelet-associated growth factors is desired — including facial rejuvenation and under-eye treatment.
Your Blood. A Gel. A Filling Effect.
Bio Filler undergoes additional processing to create a gel-like injectable material from your own blood-derived components. This bridges the gap between a purely regenerative treatment and a filling effect — delivering both to the target area.
How PRP & PRF Treatments Work
The Process Begins With Something Your Body Already Knows
A Small Blood Draw
A small amount of blood is collected, similar to a routine blood draw. The process is simple and typically takes only a few minutes.
Your Blood Is Processed
The sample is processed to separate and concentrate the components needed for your treatment. The specific preparation depends on whether your provider is creating PRP, PRF, or Bio Filler.
Your Treatment Is Personalized
The resulting product can be injected into targeted areas or incorporated into another aesthetic treatment, depending on your goals and anatomy.
Your Natural Response Begins
Platelets contain signaling proteins and growth factors involved in the body's healing processes. Regenerative treatments are designed to work with your body's own biological processes rather than simply changing the appearance immediately.
PRF Facial Rejuvenation
Supporting Skin Quality & Natural Rejuvenation Over Time
PRF facial rejuvenation uses platelet-rich fibrin derived from your own blood as an injectable regenerative treatment. Unlike traditional dermal filler, PRF isn't primarily intended to create immediate structural volume — the emphasis is on regenerative improvement over time.
That makes it an appealing option for patients who want a subtle approach or who are particularly interested in treatments derived from their own blood.
PRF may be considered when the goal is to support:
- Skin quality
- Collagen production support
- Crepey-looking skin
- Thin or delicate skin
- Under-eye rejuvenation
- Fine lines
- Overall facial rejuvenation

PRF for Under-Eye Rejuvenation
A Regenerative Approach to Tired-Looking Eyes
Skin around the eyes is naturally thin. Changes in skin quality can make the area appear tired, crepey, hollow, or shadowed. PRF may be used in selected patients to support skin quality and natural rejuvenation around the under-eye area.
Because under-eye concerns can have many different causes — hollowness, pigmentation, vascular show, skin laxity — we start with an evaluation rather than assuming every concern needs filler or PRF.

What Is Bio Filler?
Injectable Rejuvenation Made From Your Own Blood
Bio Filler bridges the gap between regenerative treatment and injectable facial rejuvenation. A blood sample is collected and processed, and the resulting material is further prepared to create a gel-like injectable product.
Your provider can then strategically place the Bio Filler in selected treatment areas, creating an immediate filling effect from the gel while also delivering your own blood-derived components to the area.
Bio Filler may be considered for areas such as:
- Under the eyes
- Tear trough area
- Fine facial lines
- Areas of mild volume loss
- Crepey skin
- Selected facial contours
Bio Filler isn't a direct substitute for every application of traditional dermal filler. Some areas require more structure, projection, or predictable volume than a plasma-derived gel is designed to provide. The right injectable depends on what we're trying to accomplish.
Understanding the Differences
Not All Blood-Derived Treatments Are the Same
Bio Filler vs. Traditional Dermal Filler
Bio Filler
Created from material derived from your own blood. May be attractive when the goals include:
Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Filler
Manufactured injectable gels designed to create predictable volume, shape, or structural support. Can be particularly useful when the goal is:
One isn't universally better than the other.
They are different tools. For some patients, Bio Filler makes sense. For others, traditional filler is the better tool. And in some treatment plans, the two approaches can serve entirely different purposes.
PRF vs. Bio Filler
PRF → Regeneration
Injected into targeted areas where the goal is to support tissue and skin quality over time.
Bio Filler → Regeneration + Filling Effect
Undergoes additional processing to create a gel-like consistency, providing a temporary filling effect in addition to blood-derived components.
PRP vs. PRF
PRP — Platelet-Rich Plasma
Concentrates platelets within plasma. Long history of use in regenerative applications across medicine.
PRF — Platelet-Rich Fibrin
Incorporates platelets within a fibrin matrix. Particularly useful for certain injectable regenerative aesthetic applications.
"Which preparation is appropriate for what I'm trying to treat?" — that's the important question, not simply which is better.
PRP & PRF With Microneedling
Combining Controlled Skin Renewal With Regenerative Components
PRP and PRF don't have to be used only as injectables. Platelet-based regenerative treatments can also be incorporated into microneedling. Microneedling creates controlled microscopic channels in the skin, initiating a natural healing response — when paired with an appropriate platelet-based treatment, the goal is to combine controlled skin renewal with regenerative components derived from your own blood.
This approach may be considered for:
Your provider can determine whether standard microneedling, regenerative microneedling, injectable PRF, Bio Filler, or another treatment makes the most sense for your skin.

You don't need to decide whether you want PRP, PRF, Bio Filler, or traditional filler before your appointment. Your consultation starts with what you're trying to improve — not the name of the treatment.
Start With a Complimentary Consultation
You don't need to decide whether you want PRP, PRF, Bio Filler, or traditional filler before your appointment. Your consultation starts with what you're trying to improve, not the name of the treatment. We'll evaluate your skin, facial anatomy, areas of volume loss, under-eye anatomy, and your desired result.
Your Blood Is Collected
If a blood-derived treatment is appropriate, a small sample of your blood is collected — similar to a standard blood draw. This takes only a few minutes and is performed at our Meridian office.
Your Treatment Is Prepared
Your blood is processed according to the treatment being performed. This may create PRP, PRF, or material that undergoes further preparation for Bio Filler. Because the product originates from your own blood, the treatment is autologous — it comes from you.
Your Personalized Treatment
Your provider administers the prepared product according to your treatment plan. Depending on your goals, this may involve targeted injections, Bio Filler placement, microneedling, or another regenerative approach.
Allow Your Results to Develop
While Bio Filler may provide an immediate filling effect from the gel itself, regenerative changes develop progressively as your tissues respond. Your provider will explain what to expect based on the specific treatment you received.

Why Choose Treasure Valley Medical Spa?
Regenerative aesthetics requires more than processing blood.
Where the product is placed, why it's being used, and whether it's the appropriate treatment matter. At Treasure Valley Medical Spa in Meridian, your treatment begins with an assessment rather than a predetermined injectable.
We offer a broad range of aesthetic options — from PRP and PRF to hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, biostimulators, neuromodulators, microneedling, laser resurfacing, and medical-grade skincare. That means we don't have to recommend Bio Filler when traditional filler would give you a better result, or recommend filler when your concern is better addressed by improving the skin itself.
The goal isn't to fit you into a treatment. It's to select the treatment that fits you.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions About PRP, PRF & Bio Filler
What does PRP stand for?
PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma. It is prepared from a sample of your own blood and contains concentrated platelets that can be used in regenerative aesthetic treatments.
What does PRF stand for?
PRF stands for Platelet-Rich Fibrin. It is a blood-derived preparation containing platelets within a fibrin matrix and can be used for regenerative aesthetic treatments.
What is Bio Filler?
Bio Filler is a gel-like injectable material prepared from components derived from your own blood. It combines a temporary filling effect with the use of autologous blood-derived material.
Is Bio Filler the same as PRF?
Not exactly. Both are derived from your blood, but Bio Filler undergoes additional preparation to create a gel-like consistency suitable for providing a filling effect.
Is Bio Filler the same as dermal filler?
No. Traditional dermal fillers are manufactured injectable products, commonly including hyaluronic acid gels. Bio Filler is prepared from blood-derived material collected from the patient. They also have different properties, so one is not necessarily a substitute for the other.
Is Bio Filler natural?
Bio Filler is autologous, meaning the material used to prepare it comes from your own blood. We prefer that description over simply calling it 'natural,' because it more accurately explains what the treatment is.
Can PRF be used under the eyes?
PRF may be used in selected patients for regenerative treatment around the under-eye area. Whether it is appropriate depends on what is causing your particular concern.
Does PRF help dark circles?
Dark circles can be caused by pigmentation, visible blood vessels, thin skin, hollowness, shadowing, or a combination of factors. PRF may be useful for some under-eye concerns, but it is not a universal treatment for every type of dark circle. An evaluation is important before choosing treatment.
Does PRF stimulate collagen?
Platelet-rich preparations are used in regenerative aesthetics to support tissue healing and signaling involved in tissue repair and collagen production. The resulting aesthetic changes develop gradually.
Can PRP or PRF be used with microneedling?
Yes. Platelet-based treatments can be incorporated into microneedling treatment plans. Your provider can determine whether regenerative microneedling is appropriate for your skin concerns.
Is PRF better than filler under the eyes?
Neither is universally better — they accomplish different things. PRF emphasizes regenerative improvement, while an appropriate dermal filler can provide more predictable structural volume. Some patients may be candidates for one, the other, or neither.
Does Bio Filler last as long as traditional filler?
Bio Filler and manufactured dermal fillers have different properties and longevity. Bio Filler should not be chosen with the expectation that it will behave exactly like a hyaluronic acid filler. Your provider can discuss the expected duration of the specific treatment recommended for you.
How many PRF treatments do I need?
Treatment plans vary based on the area being treated, your baseline condition, and your goals. A series may be recommended for some patients, while others may benefit from a different approach.
Is there downtime with PRF injections?
Temporary swelling, redness, tenderness, or bruising can occur following injectable PRF treatment. Under-eye injections may result in more noticeable temporary swelling.
